Steps To Bulimia Recovery
- Admit you have a problem. Up until now, you have assumed that because of all this that you will have a better life and that you will lose weight when you choose. Your first step needs to be that you admit that what you're doing is a health hazard and that you need to develop a better relationship with food before it gets to out of control.
- Talk to someone. At first it is going to be hard to talk about everything that you are going through. You could be ashamed, ambivalent, or afraid of what others will think. But you need to understand that you are never alone. Try and find a good listener that will support you and try to help you get better.
- Stay away from anything that is going to cause you to have the temptation to binge or purge. You may need to prevent yourself from being around people who are constantly dieting and talking about losing weight. Also, don't look at fashion or fitness magazines that may cause you to fall back into your old habits. You may also need to be careful when it comes to meal planning and cooking magazines and shows. And under no circumstances should you look at any websites that promote bulimia.
- Seek professional help. The knowledge and advice from trained professionals can help you to regain your health, learn to eat normally again, and develop healthier attitudes about food and your body.
